Silence. I have walked hundreds of trails in my life and many miles under trees and alongside raging rivers but the loudest sound is always the silence. The wind may rustle the branches and the water might roar but the silence breaks through. It is always the silence that beckons the soul to come back again to climb another path and explore another wilderness. There is a call to the soul that some can hear that brings healing and rejuvenation simply by the act of pressing forward deeper into the silence. I find that it is in this quiet that God speaks the loudest. Could it be that he is heard most clearly when the noise of the world is silenced?
1 Kings 19:11-13... God in the whisper.
