Changes
From serenity to stormy. One moment you are in the most tranquil moments and the next you find yourself wondering where you might find shelter with none nearby. Clarity becomes obscurity and calm becomes chaos. The stillness suddenly turns and the rain begins to fall. What will define you in that moment? Is it anger at the change and the interruption to your momentary quiet? Is it fear of the unknown and potential danger? Or will you choose to stay calm and simply watch it unfold knowing that you have no control of what is happening around you by choosing faith over fear?
The image above represents 6 minutes where a tranquil morning became almost instant chaos with a passing storm front. A clear beautiful sunrise turned into lightning hitting the nearby peaks, rain falling, followed by a near whiteout fog in this lake basin. As I sat on the shoreline taking it all in the beauty of it all was simply stunning.
Life can be much like this mountain experience where unexpected change comes to interrupt your tranquility. The question is never whether change will come it is what you will choose to do with it. Will you choose to trust God for the outcome or react in anger, fear, or sadness? God tells us in Jeremiah that He knows the plans He has for His people and they are plans for prospering and not harm and plans for a hope and a future! Even when the storms of life come and everything seems chaotic choose faith instead of fear.
"For I know the plans..." - Jeremiah 29:11
