Focus
Lines and light. Dark and shadow. Subtle guides to point the way and guide the eye on the journey that the artist has designed. In painting or photography it all begins with a vision and ends with gentle finishing touches to the light and the shadows. Ideally the viewer never realizes they are being guided through the scene by design. They just enjoy the journey.
Our lives should be built around purpose and with focus. Where are our leading lines and guiding light? Does it all point the way to the Creator or are we letting chaos and distractions into our scene to take away from the beauty? The scene above was in no way accidental. It took purpose to arise at dawn, patience to wait by an icy lake for over an hour for the scene to unfold and finally the time invested to add the right amount of finishing edits to create something truly special for the viewer to enjoy.
Are you living on purpose or just hoping that it all works out? If I have learned anything from both photography and life... being purposeful is always the better path.
