Lifecycle
Roots clinging. Leaves falling. Moss growing. The trees fall and become soil again while the water slips by only to return again at snowmelt. Unseen and quietly living under and in it all is life. Fish swim and insects crawl. Birds nest and squirrels store. Year upon year the cycle will continue unabated. In the heat of summer and the cold of winter, life will blossom and decay will arrive only for it all to begin again. Don't mourn the passing of a season because the passing of one brings life to the next.
The promise
This scene reminds me of the promise in Genesis, "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." (Gen. 8:23)
Instead of despair for the winter place hope in the promise and be thankful for the blessings of life.
